Africa Travel Week 2025 Update: ‘Ignite Africa’ at WTM Africa & ILTM Africa
As the Industry gears up for Africa Travel Week 2025, the spotlight is on the dynamic theme, 'Ignite Africa', which will shape both WTM Africa and ILTM Africa. This exciting focus promises to ignite new ideas, collaborations, and strategies, underscoring the importance of innovation in tourism and luxury travel.
WTM Africa 2025: A Revamped Experience with 'Ignite Africa'
From 9 to 11 April 2025, Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) will once again host WTM Africa, but this time, with a fresh, reimagined approach. The event promises an intensive focus on actionable insights, fostering strategic networking opportunities for stakeholders across the tourism sector. With 'Ignite Africa' as the guiding theme, WTM Africa 2025 is designed to inspire fresh ideas and collaboration, creating a roadmap for the future of African tourism.
Attendees can expect a rich programme, diving into critical themes like aviation, responsible tourism, and marketing, all curated by industry experts. What sets this year apart is the focus on practical solutions and strategies that go beyond the theoretical. The introduction of the 'Brain Box' will give participants hands-on workshops to gain skills and knowledge applicable to their businesses.
Additionally, WTM Africa will be unveiling a trend report filled with the latest industry insights. This essential State of the Industry report will offer a data-driven look at both the challenges and opportunities facing African tourism. For media professionals, the newly reimagined Media Awards programme will spotlight the best in travel journalism, while an expanded schedule of press conferences and interviews promises deeper access to key industry leaders.
"With 'Ignite Africa,' we're bringing together the sharpest minds, the latest trends, and actionable strategies in a way that’s never been done before," said Megan De Jager, Portfolio Director for RX Africa.

ILTM Africa 2025: Luxury Meets Art at Norval Foundation
Luxury travel is evolving, and ILTM Africa 2025 reflects this change by embracing a new, art-infused venue. From 6 to 8 April 2025, ILTM Africa will be held at the renowned Norval Foundation, Cape Town’s iconic contemporary art museum and sculpture garden, marking an exciting shift from its previous home in Kirstenbosch Gardens.
This move signals a growing trend in the luxury travel sector—where art and cultural immersion are becoming as crucial as culinary experiences in defining luxury. As Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis noted, the Norval Foundation provides the perfect backdrop to highlight Cape Town’s rich artistic heritage. “Cape Town is not only known for its natural beauty and culinary scene but also as one of the world’s great art cities,” he said.
ILTM Africa 2025 will continue to connect luxury travel buyers and exhibitors but with a unique twist. The event will feature a new 'In Conversation' space, designed to spark creative dialogue and foster the exchange of forward-thinking ideas. The Norval Foundation’s scenic surroundings will provide ample opportunities for networking while offering a unique exploration of African art.
Caroline Greyling, Museum Director at the Norval Foundation, shared her excitement about the event, saying, "We are thrilled to introduce international guests to our museum and art offerings, celebrating the incredible talents of African artists."
See you in Cape Town!
