Rhino Africa’s Winning Video Helps Cape Town Secure World Pride 2028 and Lead Gay Games 2030 Bid

Cape Town has secured a landmark achievement by winning the bid to host World Pride in 2028, a major step forward in showcasing the city’s inclusivity and vibrant tourism offering. This victory positions the city as a prominent LGBTQ+ destination on the global stage.

In addition to this milestone, Cape Town is now setting its sights on hosting the Gay Games in 2030. Rhino Africa, led by Founder and CEO David Ryan, played a key role in producing the video content for Cape Town’s World Pride bid. Ryan has been asked to lead the campaign for the Gay Games, following the city’s standing ovation for its bid in Washington, where it was one of only two cities to receive such recognition. He is optimistic about Cape Town's chances.

“We’ve got a fantastic opportunity to showcase Cape Town’s inclusivity and vibrant tourism story,” said Ryan. “The Gay Games will bring around 8,000 participants, providing not only a celebration of sport and culture but also a significant boost for our tourism sector.”

Cape Town’s bid for the Gay Games will be evaluated in the coming months, with the top three cities to be announced in early December. A press conference with Cape Town's mayor is set for December 4, marking a key step in the process. A site visit will take place in the first quarter of 2025, with the winning city expected to be announced by the end of that quarter.

As Cape Town looks forward to hosting World Pride in 2028, the city remains focused on its efforts to bring the Gay Games to South Africa in 2030.
